Abstract
This IDC study examines the difference in per-firm SMB IT spending on the basis
of region as well as company size. The study also explores the impact that
increases in per-firm SMB IT spending can have on the overall growth of IT
spending by small and midsize businesses outside of North America over the
2008-2012 period. The study concludes by discussing the factors that influence
per-firm SMB IT spending growth and how companies can use these factors to
devise strategies to boost sales growth in the global SMB market.
"Per-firm SMB IT spending varies widely on the basis of region and, especially,
company size," said John Roberts, research manager for Global SMB Research at
IDC. "In addition, there is enormous potential for IT spending growth by SMBs
outside of North America. Our analysis shows that even modest increases in
per-firm SMB IT spending over the next five years could boost regional and
worldwide spending by tens of billions of dollars."
