Abstract
This IDC study reviews the performances of eleven incumbents in the
Asia/Paciifc (excluding Japan) or APEJ region and assesses their strategies in
coping in a highly competitive environment where their traditional sources of
revenue are showing signs of decline.
"Fixed-line operators in APEJ face similar challenges - mobile substitution and
end-user preferences for IP-based solutions are affecting their PSTN revenues,
which account for a substantial portion of their revenues. Incumbents that are
successful in executing their triple-play or quad-play strategies, and
delivering premium customer services are more likely to sail through this
highly challenging environment," says Dorothy Chan, senior research manager,
Telecommunications.
