Abstract
This study reviews and forecasts the evolution of the Western European market
for consumer VoIP services from 2007 to 2012. A detailed country breakdown is
provided for VoIP traffic, spending, and customer subscriptions.
IDC believes that consumer VoIP spending in Europe will grow at a CAGR of 22%,
from $4.6 billion in 2007 to $12.4 billion in 2012, which will represent about
a third of the TDM-based voice services market.
"The deployment and uptake of consumer VoIP services is increasing rapidly in
Western Europe as a whole but there are wide local variations in availability
and penetration rates," said Angela Salmeron, research manager for IDC' s
European Telecommunications service.
