Abstract
In this second Competitive Profile of vendors providing offshore/nearshore
sourcing services in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), IDC slightly altered its
framework to include vendors both native to CEE as well as international
vendors that have chosen to establish operations in the region in order to take
advantage of lower costs and a highly-skilled labor force. This in-depth
framework allows IDC to analyze not only vendor performance but also the impact
a vendor' s presence has on the markets in which it operates. The analysis of
vendors in this study follows benchmarks across the four main categories listed
above.
In addition to providing valuable vendor-based performance benchmarks, this
Competitive Profile provides macro-market analysis of the CEE
offshore/nearshore sourcing market, and recommendations and guidelines on how
both local and international players can compete in the CEE IT services and
business marketplaces.
The findings of this Competitive Profile will help end users and vendors alike
as they continue to seek the most effective and efficient ways to run their
businesses. End users (large enterprises and SMEs) will gain a better
perspective regarding the qualifications and abilities of sourcing providers in
the region, both technological as well as business process related. This
profile will assist offshore/nearshore players in building business models to
help them better compete in the region. The document also provides analysis of
key market trends and the potential opportunities and pitfalls facing providers
on the market.
This study analyzes both vendors native to CEE and international vendors who
have established offshore/nearshore sourcing operations in the region across
the following four variables:
- Company Overview
- Services Offered
- Financials and Employees
- Sales, Customers, and Contracts
The study profiles each company based on quantitative data relating to the
above four categories for the year 2007, and offers a qualitative analysis of
the data.
"The countries of CEE have proven to be competitive locations for IT services
delivery. Lower costs and talented human resources have enables vendors native
to CEE the opportunity to compete for a share of global services contracts.
Additionally, several international vendors have taken advantage of the
region' s lower costs and highly skilled resources to conduct their services
activities at much lower cost than in their home countries. As a result of
their presence on the market, finding affordable talent has become more
difficult for local vendors, who must now compete for every professional they
bring onboard, and they also must be willing and able to pay for them if they
expect to remain a viable player on the CEE offshore/nearshore services
market." - Curtis Robinson, Analyst, IDC CEMA
