Abstract
This IDC study extends key software offerings for datacenters from three
technology vendors that have aligned themselves with the Green technology buzz.
Following the traction of Green IT across Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or
APEJ, this study focuses on Green IT software and how it fits into datacenters
to promote energy-efficient and cost-saving benefits to businesses in the
region.
"As businesses in APEJ continue to grow, so do their need for power-hungry
datacenter infrastructures. Cost-saving benefits from Green IT technologies
become ever more appealing as these businesses look toward energy-efficient
solutions to reduce power consumption, so to alleviate the costs involved with
it. In this respect, the three key Green IT software technologies that can be
applied to datacenters are power monitoring and management tools, asset
management and automation tools, and server virtualization software," says
Adren Lim, market analyst, Software Research, IDC Asia/Pacific.
