Abstract
This IDC study provides IDC' s top 10 predictions for the mobile/wireless
semiconductor market for 2009. We identify the key issues/factors that we
believe will most influence the mobile/wireless semiconductor market this year.
These predictions are based on ongoing IDC research in the areas of mobile
phone semiconductors, cellular infrastructure semiconductors, and emerging
wireless technologies and are meant to provide guidance to the industry going
forward.
"The mobile/wireless semiconductor market has enjoyed healthy growth for over a
decade except for a slump in 2001 during the dot-com meltdown. However, like
virtually all other industry segments, the mobile/wireless semiconductor market
was not able to avoid the downdraft of the recent upheavals in the global

2001 as forecast in IDC' s latest update in December 2008. We' ve identified the
