Abstract
This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J8300108)
looks at the storage spending trends among Japan small and medium businesses
(SMBs) with 999 or less employees and the infiltration rates of external disk
storage systems by capacity, vendor, and installation environment. We will also
look at the aspects emphasized by Japan SMBs when choosing storage systems
based on the results of the Japan SMB User Survey conducted by IDC in February
2008.
"To ensure business growth and expand their market shares, it is important for
storage vendors to cultivate new business terrains, including the SMB market,
besides maintaining existing businesses that target large enterprises," says
Masaaki Moriyama, group director, Storage and Server Research, IDC Japan.
