Abstract
This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J8200107,)
gives an analysis of the overview and characteristics of security-related
services provided by Japan carriers, and the future of security services, based
on information obtained from interviews with leading carriers. It also analyzes
the market in terms of main service segment and forecasts the market size from
2007 to 2012.
"The security service market expanded smoothly due to growing needs for
solutions to guard against rapidly escalating security attacks from external
sources and for compliance reinforcement. Security service providers led by
Japan carriers need to promote to large companies operation management service
that requires a high level of expertise (e.g., log analysis), examines causes,
and implements solutions during occurrence of computer security incidents. The
key is to set prices that cater to the size of the company and virtualize the
effectiveness of security service deployment for small and medium-sized
businesses (SMBs), as a way of differentiating themselves from other carriers,"
says Akiko Kawakami, senior market analyst, Communications, IDC Japan.
