Abstract
This IDC study profiles 10 relatively small privately held Canadian
companies offering solutions for the healthcare market that we believe
are worthy of highlighting to the broader industry and have
the potential to make an impact on the information and
communications technology (ICT) market. This study provides a review of
each company' s technology and go-to-market strategy, partners, and customers. It
touches upon some of the overarching trends IDC is seeing
in this market, the strategies and characteristics these 10 companies
share, and essential guidance. This study also provides valuable input
for ICT vendors, investors, government, and service providers to identify
promising companies in this market, potential partners, and investment opportunities.
"The
healthcare industry is embarking on a transformation — from antiquated
technologies and processes to innovative solutions that are all about
managing efficiency and accessing large flows of people and information
across systems and providers, to reduce costs and improve patient
care," says Krista Napier, analyst, Canadian ICT Innovation at IDC.
"For small ICT vendors in Canada, this represents a huge
opportunity as they launch impressive solutions that are designed to
improve how healthcare is delivered, managed, and experienced in Canada
and abroad."
