Abstract
This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese
report IDC #J9450101) shows the shipment performance of the Japan
tape drive and tape automation market from 1H07 to 1H08
and presents forecasts from 2008 to 2012. The forecasts, aside
from being analyzed by revenue and shipment, were also analyzed
by platform. In addition, the shipment results and forecasts for
the tape drive market were analyzed by capacity while those
of the tape automation market were analyzed by cartridge size.
"The
global economic recession is beginning to affect the IT spending
budgets of companies in Japan. Tape storage suppliers should propose
solutions that suit users' needs and strengthen their services to
maximize the tape spending budgets of their existing users amid
the current environment," says Ayuchi Takamatsu, analyst, Storage Systems Research,
IDC Japan.
