Abstract
This IDC study analyzes developments in the PC market and
the critical role of PC semiconductor suppliers in the current
stage of the market and the next phase, which we
expect will extend semiconductor suppliers beyond the PC space. The
PC market has evolved from its previous dependence on vendors
in the PC supply chain to an increased migration of
value to the PC semiconductor vendors.
"Ongoing consolidation of the
vendor base within the PC semiconductor market will not ease
the competitive environment," said Mario Morales, vice president, Semiconductor Research
at IDC.
