Abstract
This IDC study quantifies the U.S. peripherals market opportunity and
analyzes its issues, trends, and product advances. The study includes
printer, MFP, and copier forecasts and combines them to examine
the total market. The forecasts contain data for the U.S.
market from 2003 to 2013. Unit shipment, value of shipments,
and average selling value (ASV) information is presented. Data for
20032008 is actual, whereas data for 20092013 is projected.
"Despite the
troubled U.S. economy, lucrative pockets of opportunity exist in color-capable
devices, a segment that has the potential to stimulate growth
in what is considered to be a mature market. However,
the rate of adaptability for color output depends greatly on
total cost of ownership. Vendors should continue to focus on
aftermarket costs for consumables to drive ongoing usage," says Akia
Ramsay, research analyst, Hardcopy Peripherals.
