Abstract
This IDC study analyzes the U.S. Ethernet services market. In
addition to discussing key trends, it forecasts E-LAN, E-Line, and
access circuits/ports and revenue from 2008 to 2013. The forecasts
are segmented by metro area and wide area and also
by bandwidth speed.
"Having solidified its position as a LAN and
metro area technology, Ethernet is in the midst of making
strong inroads into the wide area network. Service providers are
investing in building out long-haul Ethernet service capabilities for both
Ethernet private linebased and Ethernet virtual private linebased offerings, as
well as for newer VPLS-based products." Rena Bhattacharyya, research
manager, Enterprise Telecommunications Services
