Abstract
This IDC study on the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ
disk storage systems market provides a detailed look at the
2008 market. It provides comprehensive data tables related to the
market and includes a separate section for each of the
14 countries and territories in the region. Where appropriate, it
also compares growth rates with the 2007 market.
The data in
this study shows the storage systems market revenue and terabyte
shipments for a range of variables, including location (external and
internal), OS (Windows NT, Unix, S/390, OS/400, Netware, Open VMS,
and Linux), installation type (direct-attached storage [DAS], Enterprise Systems Connection
[ESCON], Fibre Channel [FC] storage area network [SAN], Internet Small
Computer Systems Interface [iSCSI] SAN, and network-attached storage [NAS]), and
size class (high end, midrange, and entry level). This databook
provides totals for each country and territory, highlighting the 2008
market shares of the major vendors in each. In addition,
this study also discusses the key issues and trends affecting
the market in 2008.
"The current economic crunch is forcing enterprises
to trim, cut, reduce, and rationalize costs, capacities, staffing, and
infrastructure in order to survive. Among other factors, a cost-efficient
IT system can be a critical competitive advantage for an
enterprise in the fight for survival. New technologies such as
virtualization, thin-client provisioning, and data deduplication will lead the storage
market shift, particularly driving storage systems adoption amid the economic
downturn in the APEJ region," says Christina Yuen, market analyst,
Asia/Pacific Storage Research, IDC Asia/Pacific.
