Abstract
This IDC study presents in-depth analysis of primary customer research
data analyzing six common server virtualization use cases to understand
enterprise demand for storage services due to server virtualization. Virtualization
has become a very important part of the enterprise IT
strategy for most enterprises. Despite the current economic downturn, enterprises
are still investing in deploying virtualization because of the technology' s
ability to decrease hardware spending. Additionally, the deployments of virtualization
are becoming greater in scale and complexity. As a result,
enterprises are finding that they need to address concerns associated
with their storage environment at the time of deploying server
virtualization.
“During a server virtualization project, adjacent technologies, such as storage,
need to be addressed,” said Matt Healey, research manager, Software
and Hardware Support Services.
