Abstract
This IDC study gives an overview of the current Australian
hosting services market, with a forecast for hosted application management
(HAM) and hosting infrastructure services (HIS) over the next five
years.
“The hosted services market is expected to show reasonable growth
over the next five years, especially in the HAM space.
Generally, hosted solutions may be expected to serve as attractive
opex alternatives to traditional capex investments during this time of
economic uncertainty, while maintaining or improving operational efficiencies. The datacentre
challenge will continue to be a burden and space is
an issue for buildouts; broadband speeds are improving, and Web
2.0 technologies being utilised and more available and a more
complex virtualised IT environment all add to the appeal and
viability of hosting solutions,” says Marina Beale, senior research analyst,
IT Services, IDC Australia.
