Abstract
This IDC study provides the current and next 1218 month
business analytics (BA) software deployment plans in view of the
current economic climate, based on two end-user surveys. Current adoption
and intentions to deploy several types of BA software are
also provided for key Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan), or APEJ, countries,
which include Australia, Korea, the People' s Republic of China (PRC),
India, and Singapore. Also analyzed are organizations' interest in business
intelligence (BI) software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings and intentions to expand BI
software access to both internal and external users.
"While cost minimization
is the top IT-related priority for APEJ organizations, there are
still a number of opportunities for vendors in the BA
market. About 18.5% of APEJ respondents are already planning to
either deploy or increase current deployments of BA software despite
of, or perhaps, because of volatile economic conditions," says Sharon
Tan, research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific Software Research. "Dashboard and scorecards
tools ranked highly in most countries' adoption plans while a
significant percentage of respondents plan to equip customer-facing employees with
BI access."
