Abstract
The Asia-Pacific market includes Japan, South Korea, and Australia. In 2007,
the combined Asia-Pacific market for dental bone graft substitutes and other
biomaterials was valued at nearly US$60.1 million. The market is expected to
grow at a double digit rate over the forecast period, driven by the market for
dental implants. Autografts account for an unusually large percentage of
dental bone graft substitute materials used in the Asia-Pacific region because
allograft and xenograft products are not approved for use in Japan. In
addition, non-resorbable synthetic membranes are far more popular in the
Asia-Pacific region than in Europe or the U.S. By 2014, the combined market is
expected to reach nearly US$250 million.
