Abstract
The total U.S. diagnostic ophthalmic equipment market was valued at $320.8
million in 2008. The market for diagnostic capital equipment is expected to
grow throughout the forecast period, and will be driven by the increase in
prevalence of age-related conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular
degeneration, as well as increasing utilization of refractive surgery by
younger patients. This market includes: Optical Coherence, Tomographers,
Fundus Cameras, Corneal Topographers, Slit lamps, Tonometers, Perimeters,
Binocular Indirect Ophthalmoscopes, Ophthalmic Ultrasounds, Autorefractors and
Keratometers and Wavefront Aberrometers.
