Abstract
The rapid shipment growth of the global netbook PC industry in 2008 continues
into 2009, with shipment volume expected to double in the full-year 2009. In
the first half of 2009, restricted by lackluster end-market demand in Europe -
the industry' s major shipment destination - the industry' s shipment growth
slowed down. However, driven by the holiday effect global netbook PC shipment
volume is expected to pick up in the second half of the year. As for key
product strategies in the second half of 2009, Nokia' s netbook PC was launched
in September 2009; the ARM architecture will be used in netbook PCs, namely
smartbook PCs; Google is projected to roll out Chrome OS in the second half of
2010. This report examines worldwide netbook PC market development in the
second half of 2009 and analyzes future product trends.
