Abstract
Worldwide mobile phone camera module shipment volume has grown steadily,
driven by the rise in camera phone sales and the trend towards integration of
video capabilities into mobile phones. This report gives an overall forecast
of worldwide mobile phone camera module shipments from 2008 to 2010, with
focus on Taiwanese makers' shipments in 2008. The research is mainly based on
interview with the companies mentioned in this report, along with technology
forecasting and assessment, added value analysis, and market trend
forecasting. It is expected that 2MP models will become the new market
mainstream in 2008 and that 3MP modules will not come into widespread use
until 2009. Other key findings include a continuing increase in Taiwanese
mobile phone camera module shipments in 2008 and a shift in Taiwanese makers'
product mix away from value-line VGA products towards high-end 2MP and higher
modules.
