Abstract
This report presents forecast of large-area TFT-LCD panel makers' capacity by
production location and market demand by application over the period 3Q 2008
to 3Q 2009. Also included are supply and demand sufficiency ratio by panel
area and unit, as well as sufficiency ratio for different panel applications.
This report finds that the panel industry adopts a less than optimistic
outlook for panel shipment performance during the peak season in the second
half of 2008. Global panel makers are expected to adjust the schedule for
next-generation production lines depending on the overall global economic
conditions and the status of supply and demand in the market. It is expected
that some panel makers will even cut back on production or withhold
investments in new production lines, in order to mitigate the woe of
oversupply.
