Abstract
This report provides Taiwanese small- and medium-sized TFT-LCD panel shipment
volume and value forecasts, as well as recent quarter review of shipment
volume, shipment value, manufacturer volume rankings, and shipment by maker
for cell panels and modules using in-house produced cell panels. Also included
are product mix analyses, including major applications such as mobile phone,
PDA/PND, DSC, DVC, portable DVD, MP3/MP4 player, office applications,
automotive, and industrial equipment, as well as panel sizes. The content of
this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with small-
and medium-sized TFT-LCD panel makers. This report finds that, due to weak
market demand worldwide, most TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal
Display) panel makers have prolonged the reduction on production so as to
avoid oversupply and price declines on excessive inventory levels. In the
third quarter of 2008, Taiwanese small- and medium-sized TFT-LCD panel
shipment volume still saw considerable growth on branded clients' orders and
peak-season demand from China. However, shipment volume is forecasted to
decline in the next two quarters owing to the global economic slump.
