Abstract
This research report presents industry shipment volume forecast and recent
quarter review of the Chinese mobile phone industry. The report includes
shipment volume, and shipment breakdowns by maker, maker origin, system
technology, and production location, as well as subscriber base by operator in
China. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through
interviews with mobile operators, key channel players and chipmakers in China.
The report finds that in the first quarter of 2009 the industry' s mobile phone
production volume declined 15.5% sequentially to 135.4 million units, marking
the first time since 2003 that the industry experienced two consecutive
quarters of sequential decline. In the second quarter of 2009, the industry is
expected to see slight growth.
