Abstract
The study is devoted to analysis of market of zirconium dioxide (chemistry -
ZrO2) in the CIS. The product is the most widespread compound of zirconium
(natural zirconium dioxide is named baddeleyite; besides, artificial zirconium
dioxide is produced). Zirconium dioxide finds wide application in various
industrial end-uses, first of all, in production of refractories and pigments
for ceramics.
The report includes the following main parts: brief description of conjuncture
of world market of zirconium dioxide; mineral resources base of zirconium
dioxide in the CIS; mining of zirconium-containing ores and production of
zirconium concentrates in the CIS; technologies of production and
requirements, imposed on grade of zirconium dioxide; standing of the main
company-producers of zirconium dioxide in the CIS, foreign trade operations
with dioxide of zirconium in the CIS (Russia, Ukraine); consumption of
zirconium dioxide and forecast of development of its market.
The investigation was implemented mainly by the method of "desk" studies -
analysis and processing, first of all, official data of state bodies: Federal
Statistic Service of Russia (Rosstat), State Statistic Committee of Ukraine
(production figures), JSC "RZhD" (Russian domestic railage statistics),
Federal Customs Service of Russia (data on foreign trade operations). Besides,
data of enterprises, information from mass media, as well as own database of
InfoMine, were used. Then the analysed data were verified and refined by the
way of telephone interviews with specialists of enterprises, considered in
this study.
This all allowed authors to draw comprehensive picture of market of zirconium
dioxide in the CIS and prospects of the market development up to 2010.
