Abstract
The report is devoted to investigation of standing of technical silicon market
and current standing of company-producers, as well as consumption of the
products in CIS countries. The report includes 8 Sections, contains 125 Pages,
23 Figures, 45 Tables and Appendices.
The report is a desk study. As information sources, data of Federal Service of
State Statistics (Rosstat), Federal Customs Service of Russia (FCS), official
statistics of domesrtic railage in Russia (JSC RZhD data), data of companies,
the sector and regional press, annual and quarterly repots of companies, as
well as web-sites of enterprise-producers and consumers of technical silicon.
The first Section of the report describes resources base of quartzites for
silicon production in CIS countries, presents data on reserves of the greatest
deposits of the resources, describes requirements, imposed on properties of
quartzites, acceptable for silicon production, as well as features of mining
of the quartzites.
The second Section is devoted to silicon production in CIS countries, it
presents data on volumes of production of the products and dynamics of the
production. Besides, the Section considers features of reducers, used in
production of technical silicon, describes standing of their production in
Russia, presents data on supplies of charcoal to plant-producers of silicon,
as well as considers questions of improving quality of technical silicon -
methods of regining silicon and new developments, introduced into the
production.
The third Section is devoted to analysis of current standing of silicon
producers in Russia and Ukraine in 2000-2006, as well as describes new
projects on production of technical silicon in Kazakhstan. The Section
presents statistical data on volumes of silicon production by all the
enterprises, describes their current standing, analyses flows and volumes of
supplies of resources to the enterprises for the latest 3-4 years.
The fourth Section of the report analyses foreign trade of Russia, Ukraine and
Kazakhstan in silicon. It presents dynamics of exports and imports, describes
tendencies of export-import supplies, as well as analysis of export-import
prices, presents data on volumes and flows of supplies of the greatest
exporters and importers of silicon.
The fifth Section of the report is devoted to consumption of silicon in
Russia, including it presents supply-demand balance of silicon, as well as
estimation of sectoral structure of consumption.
Besides, it describes technology for production of various aluminium-silicon
alloys, presents data on volumes and flows of silicon supplies to
company-producers of aluminium-silicon alloys, both primary and secondary, as
well as to steel-rolling and engine-building plants, being the greatest
consumers of the products. Standing of production of organosilicon products in
Russia is analyzed.
The sixth Section is devoted to consumption of silicon in Ukraine. The Section
presents supply-demand balance of silicon, as well as estimation of sectoral
structure of the consumption in 2007. Besides, it describes current standing
of the greatest consumers of the products in Ukraine - PO
«Kremniipolimer», JV «Intersplav» and LLC
«Orisil-Kalush».
The seventh Section of the report is devoted to application of silicon in
production of semiconductor product (poly- and mono-silicon) in the CIS. The
Section presents description of current standing of operating producers of
poly- and mono-silicon, as well as brief characteristics of new projects,
scheduled on the nearest years in connection with boom at market of poly- and
mono-silicon
The eighth Section of the report presents forecast of development of technical
silicon market in CIS countries in 2008-2010.
The Appendices present technical standards (GOST) on silicon, valid in the
CIS, as well as describes produced organosilicon compounds and their end-uses.
Besides, contact information on producers and the main consumers of silicon in
CIS countries is given.
