Abstract
The report is devoted to investigation of current standing of soda ash market
in CIS countries and forecast of its development in conditions of
financial-economic crisis. The report is composed of 7 Sections, contains 168
pages, including 38 Figures, 73 Tables and Appendices.
Methodologically, this work was implemented as a "desk" research. As
information sources to be analyzed we used data of Federal Statistic Service
of Russia (Rosstat), Federal Customs Service of Russia, official domestic
railage statistic of JSC RZhD (former Ministry of Railway Transport of
Russia), official statistic and customs services of Ukraine, sectoral
(industrial) and regional press, annual and quarterly reports of companies,
data from web-sites of company-producers and consumers of soda ash, as well as
own InfoMine database.
The first Section of the report presents brief characteristics of world market
of sodium carbonate (reserves of natural soda, production, prices).
The second Section presents information on resources, required for production
of soda ash, their characteristics. The Section describes in details
technology of production of sodium carbonate. In addition, data on the main
suppliers of resources, directions and volumes of the supplies are given.
The third Section is devoted to description of soda ash production in CIS
countries, including statistical data on volumes of soda production in Russia
and Ukraine and estimation data on production of soda in Uzbekistan. In
addition, quality data of the finished products are given.
The fourth Section is devoted to analysis of data on foreign trade in soda ash
in Russia for 1998-2008 and Ukraine for 1999-2008.
The fifth Section of the report presents data on prices on various grades of
soda at domestic Russian and Ukrainian market. In addition, analysis of
dynamics of export-import prices on the product in Russia and Ukraine is
presented.
The sixth Section of the report analyses consumption of soda ash in Russia and
Ukraine. The Section presents supply-demand balance of the product, sectoral
pattern of the consumption, presents the main consumers, as well as current
standing and prospects of development of the greatest enterprise-consumers.
The seventh Section of the report presents forecast of development of Russian
soda ash market in the crisis conditions up to 2015.
The Appendix presents contact information on enterprises, producing and
consuming soda ash in CIS countries.
