Abstract
Manufacturing Insights made a thorough evaluation of the top 6 software vendors
to the European manufacturing industry - SAP, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Dassault
Systemes, and Siemens PLM Software - primarily based on questionnaire responses
and individual interviews.
The results of this research are software vendor profiles and a competitive map
in which Manufacturing Insights has positioned the vendors against a number of
competitive indicators.
"By looking to their competitive positioning, we can see that the various
software vendors we have analyzed in this research have a very distinctive
position," said Pierfrancesco Manenti, EMEA research director at Manufacturing
Insights, an IDC company. "In conclusion, the main message that came from this
research is that, by analyzing the overall positioning of software vendors, the
common underpinning element is that the higher the vertical alignment the
stronger the manufacturing stronghold."
