Abstract
This report provides analysis of the results of IDC' s Manufacturing Insights'
most recent survey, which was carried out in Western Europe.
The survey is based on 87 interviews with CPG manufacturing firms in Germany,
France, the U.K., Italy, and Spain.
The purpose of this study is to understand:
- Industry-specific IT solution adoption trends.
- Industry-specific solution implementation preference (packaged software versus custom developments).
- Short-term industry-specific solution priorities and investment plans.
This report is part of a series of studies, which includes:
- Companies' IS operating budget situation and evolution.
- Analysis of business horizontal solution adoption and investment plans.
"The results of this survey reflect a business that has a positive attitude to
industry-specific application investments," said Lorenzo Veronesi, analyst,
Manufacturing Insights. "This is due to the fact that CPG manufacturers need to
keep a strong control over their whole production chain in order to reduce cost
centers and to comply with stricter governments regulations."
