Abstract
This Manufacturing Insights report provides IT spending data on Asia/Pacific
(excluding Japan), or APEJ, manufacturers by segment, and looks at
the drivers and key trends that spur activities in the
APEJ region. This report includes a forecast outlook for the
20092013 period, and also highlights the trends in APEJ manufacturing
IT strategy.
"The market forecast and analysis presented in this report
reflect the uncertainty and cautious approach to IT strategy. The
2009 overall APEJ Manufacturing IT spending, at about US$21.5 billion,
is somewhat lower compared with 2008, but is expected to
increase at a moderate pace from 2010, with a compound
annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.9% over the next five
years. As manufacturers face uncertain business climate, the focus will
be on cost reduction, customer centricity, and risk mitigation. IT
investments will be aligned to support productivity, efficiency, and business
intelligence (BI), leveraging existing assets and infrastructure as much as
possible," says Debashis Tarafdar, associate research director, Asia/Pacific Manufacturing Research,
Manufacturing Insights, IDC Asia/Pacific.
