Abstract
Long-term care insurance addresses an important financial concern for individuals: how to fund expensive health care-related services that may quickly exhaust retirement resources. Much of the public does not understand the need for the product; furthermore, it is emotionally difficult for individuals to contemplate a future in which they are no longer self-sufficient.
This report reviews issues in the long-term care industry and provides answers to the following questions:
- How has long-term care insurance performed in recent years in terms of sales? Which companies are the market share leaders?
- What trends can be observed in direct mail for the long-term care insurance product?
- How has recent legislation impacted the industry?
- Which product innovations are gaining rapid acceptance in the marketplace?
