Storage Opportunities for Handheld Devices analyzes consumer content
requirements for handheld platforms and how that impacts product design,
service options, and market potential as it relates to storage products.
"Flash memory' s characteristics of non-volatility, fast read times, shock
resistance, and low price points will continue to make this storage technology
an ideal choice for not only mobile phones, but other handheld devices such as
MP3 players and digital cameras," said Parks Associates Analyst Chris Roden.
"Based on the technology adoption curve for mobile and handset devices,
' Mobile Aficionados' [early adopters], ' Mobile Workers' [early
majority], and ' Music and Video Lovers' [early majority] have the
highest demand and usage of applications that will require increased storage
in handheld devices," stated Mr. Roden. "The highest storage requirements and
lower cost per gigabyte will make the traditional HDD an ideal memory choice
for these devices."
