Abstract
Between 2009 and 2014, Morocco' s telecommunications market will grow at a CAGR
of 4.9%, from $4.1bn to $5.1bn. Mobile voice and data services made up 67% of
total revenue in 2008, a figure that we expect to increase slightly over the
forecast period, reaching 70% by 2014 thanks to tremendous growth in mobile
broadband uptake.
Fixed voice continues to play an important role in Morocco, accounting for 28%
of total revenue in 2008. The share of fixed voice revenue is, however,
expected to decline to 24% by 2014. Fixed Internet service revenue, both
narrowband and broadband, is still very marginal, representing 3% of total
revenue in 2008. The contribution of these services is expected to grow slowly
over the next five years to represent about 4% of total revenue by 2014. The
slow growth in fixed Internet is the direct result of mobile broadband
substitution.
