Abstract
Total service revenue grew at a rate of 19% in 2008, reaching $1.1bn. Due to
the global economic slowdown, we expect this growth to decrease and reach
nearly 4% in 2009, with $1.2bn in total revenue. Comparing 2008 with 2007,
mobile data growth was nearly 35%, to reach $180m by the end of the year,
while mobile voice revenue grew 28%, reaching $513m.
We expect Uruguay' s telecom market to reach nearly $1.5bn by 2014, which
represents a 4.4% CAGR over 2009 figures. Mobile data and broadband Internet
will be the two biggest growth contributors in the period, with CAGRs of 13.5%
and 4.3%, respectively. IPTV and fixed VoIP will be the fastest-growing
businesses but will remain low revenue-generating lines. In this context, we
see Antel Data' s strategy of increasing broadband coverage and its range of
products as an important growth factor.
