The market for ASICs/ASSPs/FPGAs is forecast to be severely impacted by the
global economic uncertainty. Revenues are forecast to decline by over 15% in
2009 and to remain flat in 2010. Irrespective of short term difficulties, the
ASIC/ASSP/FPGA market is forecast to remain a central part of the
semiconductor industry, with continued strong demand in the communications,
computer and consumer sectors. Growth is projected to return to closer to the
historical average level for the market over the period 2011-2014, as consumer
and business confidence begins to stabilize and investment returns. Revenues
are forecast to return to 2008 levels in 2012.
