VDC is pleased to announce the publication of our Inventory Tank Gauging
Technologies Report, part of the 10th edition of our market intelligence
program, Process Level Measurement and Inventory Tank Gauging: Global Market
Demand Analysis.
This report provides an objective, detailed analysis of the opportunities in
the global inventory tank gauging market: with market estimates and forecasts,
competitive analysis, user requirements, and trend discussions.
Research Highlights
In 2008 the world-wide market for inventory tank gauging systems totaled over
$US 400 million and is expected to decline by nearly 13% in 2009. It is
believed that the market will flatten in 2010 and begin to grow in late 2010
or the first half of 2011. Increased efficiency demands and regulatory
compliance drivers are top factors driving long term growth.
The geographic region with the greatest share of shipments is EMEA, followed
by the Asia-Pacific and the Americas. Worldwide, the verticals exhibiting the
strongest now-and near-term performance are: chemical/specialty chemical
markets, petrochem, and pharmaceutical. Microwave/Radar Non-Contact Marine is
the largest product category followed by sonic/ultrasonic. Microwave/Radar
products are experiencing the fastest growth. A number of significant shifts
in the deployment of digital buses/networks include a major shift to
foundation Fieldbus.
Accuracy, reliability, and durability were the top three product selection
criterions cited by end users. Price, customer service/support, and experience
with vendor were top non-products selection criteria. The top three world wide
suppliers of inventory tank gauging systems in 2008 were: Emerson Process
Management, Honeywell enraf, and Robertshaw Industrial Products.
