[Report] New Generation Projects Global Database Ed 7 2007

2,456 power projects under construction, planned or proposed (a 27% expansion on the previous record)
This is a database of electric power generation projects proposed, under construction or awaiting commissioning, through out the world
This database was started in 1998 and this is the seventh issue released in mid-2007
It is continuously up-dated and currently records 2,456 generation projects world wide in 121 countries
All projects have been identified with as much information as available and more is added on a continuous basis
It is not always easy to ascertain the status of projects in the pipeline
It is no by no means uncommon that a project is announced as starting or already started and for it then to be delayed for some years while unforeseen problems are resolved, usually involving financial, official approval or environmental obstacles
Large projects are also frequently commissioned in stages, with separate units coming on-line over years, sometimes many years
It is our policy to retain projects in the database until we have verifiable information that they have been completed and then they are deleted

This database is complementary to the Global Database of Operational Power Generation Plants, a larger database of existing generation projects which are currently operational throughout the world
When a project is deleted from the New Generation Projects Global Database it is automatically added to the Global Database of Operational Power Generation Plants
