Abstract
This report includes profiles of over 100 leading pharmaceutical companies in
China, including company history, background, websites and financial
statistics.
China's pharmaceuticals industry is a large and fast-growing market, growing
by over 140% since 1998. The estimated value of the domestic industry in
China, at the end of 2005, will be in the region of RMB288.74bn (US$34.89bn).
Although China is one of the world's largest bulk manufacturers of raw drugs
ingredients, it has yet to develop a real capability to develop its own
proprietary drugs. This means that 99% of the over-the-counter drugs sold in
pharmacies in China were developed by foreign companies.
