Abstract
This report examines China' s macroeconomic trends, investment environment,
Styrene Monomer (SM) industry structure and capacities, production and demand,
end-use market consumption trends, distribution channels and industry
participants. Long-term forecasts for major SM production and demand are
included. The report contains over 30 tables and 34 charts. Key SM producers
and major SM end user are listed and profiled.
Most primary and secondary research is done in China in order to access
up-to-date market information and industry data. Data was collected from the
telephone interview, Chinese government publications, Chinese official
website, China' s official statistic organization, Chinese chemical online
databases, Chinese SM industry associations, and SM industry publications.
Interviews are conducted with Chinese SM experts, university professors, and
SM producers in China.
Historical data include 1997, 2002 and 2007. Long-term development trends are
projected to the years 2012 and 2017. Economic models and quantitative methods
are applied in this report to project market demand and industry trends.
Metric system is used and values are presented in either yuan (RMB, current
price) and/or US dollars. Exchange rate refers to the real-time exchange rate
published by China Central Bank. The word "demand" is used interchangeably
with "consumption". Totals may not add due to rounding.
