The worlds top 10 connector manufacturers recorded 2003 shipments of $13.333 billion. This was an increase of ?6.4% from 2002 shipments of $14.241 billion. Five of the top 10 manufacturers were U.S.-based firms, three were Japanese manufacturers, one was European, and one was Asia Pacific based.
The leading worldwide connector manufacturer was Tyco Electronics, with 2003 shipments of $4.962 billion. Tyco Electronics accounted for 37.2% of top 10 shipments, and 21.5% of total 2003 worldwide connector shipments.
The second ranked manufacturer was Molex Inc., which had 2003 shipments of $1.789 billion. Molex represented 13.4% of top 10 shipments, and 7.7% of total worldwide connector shipments.
The third ranked manufacturer was FCI, which had 2003 shipments of $1.321 billion. FCI accounted for 9.9% of top 10 shipments, and 5.7% of total 2003 worldwide connector shipments.
With shipments of $13.333 billion, the top 10 manufacturers accounted for 57.7% of the total worldwide connector market.
