The European market for furniture components

The European production of furniture components is worth about Euro 2,900 million. Italy is the leading European producer and exporter, while Germany - being the main furniture producer in Europe - is the leading consumer and importer of furniture components.

This report provides trends in production and consumption of furniture components (including semi-finished wood-based panels) in Western European countries, with special reference to the Italian market. It also covers imports and exports, prices, investments and distribution channels.

A focus on the Italian market for furniture components is provided, with a breakdown of production by product type (cabinet doors, panels, drawers, worktops), by sector of destination (office furniture, kitchen and bathroom furniture, other household furniture), by support material (wood, MDF, particle board, multi-layer, honeycomb core, aluminium) and by coating material (veneer, papers and melamine foils, laminate, PVC, lacquered).

As far as raw materials are concerned, the report provides data on European production, consumption, imports and exports of particleboard panels, also considering other wood-based panels (MDF, plywood, fiber board panels, OBS). For the Italian market the report provides data on support and coating materials used for the production of furniture components.

The European exports and imports of furniture components are broken down by country. A focus on the main importers and producers of furniture parts among the Eastern European countries is also available.
