Abstract
SUMMARY:
News about China gets aged surprisingly fast. Not even two years ago, the
kitchen furniture consumption in China was around 500,000 kitchens. Today,
this amount grew to get close to a million kitchen furniture units. On the
other hand one can observe that the Chinese kitchen furniture market is still
microscopic compared to the furniture market which is around 30 billion
dollars (at factory prices).
This market research provides data on the kitchen furniture production,
consumption, imports, exports, distribution and the supply structure of
kitchen furniture in China. The distribution channels for kitchen furniture
are analysed, the main home furniture chains, DIY chains and hypermarkets are
mentioned and distribution margins are provided as well as the distribution of
kitchen furniture through the home appliance channel.
The chapter on competition with brief profiles about the main players of
kitchen furniture in China, specifies the leaders in some of the Chinese
provinces and mentions companies coming from other furniture sectors who
decided to get into the kitchen furniture sector. Foreign companies present in
the Chinese market are also cited.
A chapter is dedicated to built-in appliances, more specifically to hoods,
refrigerators and freezers. For both products, the main manufacturers are
mentioned and reference prices are given as well as the production in units by
main brands. Demand determinants examined are urban population, marriages,
construction activities, salaries, prospects, location of demand. This charter
concludes with some tips about the Chinese consumer in order to understand
better their purchase behaviour. (Copyright CSIL Milano)
