REPORT HIGHLIGHTS
Christian Salvesen was the subject of takeover talks, before the mystery buyer pulled out. However, the company successfully offloaded its troubled German business. As US Customs get firmer, there were some high-profile new members of C-TPAT. Other highlights include organic growth at Panalpina, and a key new contract for Tibbett & Britten.
In the postal and express sector, DPWN’s positive start to 2003 was overshadowed by legal wrangles across the Atlantic, that threaten its expansion into the US parcel market. In the UK, Postcomm once again aroused the anger of Royal Mail, ruling that the state postal group must carry mail for rival Business Post for as little as 11.5p per letter.
