Abstract

Overview

Introduction

This report provides a summary of the capabilities of the leading enterprise security vendors based on a quantitative assessment of their market impact and end user sentiment, as well as the technology features that they offer. Datamonitor also provides guidance for enterprises looking to deploy enterprise security solutions.

Scope

  • Provides an overview of the most important trends affecting the enterprise security market and influencing its competitive dynamics.
  • Delivers an overall comparison of enterprise security vendors in terms of their technology, user sentiment and market impact.
  • Presents a detailed view of each vendor' s enterprise security offering and capabilities, as well as advice on the suitability of these offerings.
  • The report covers the following vendors: CA, Check Point, Cisco, HP, IBM, Juniper, McAfee, Microsoft, Novell, RSA, Symantec and VeriSign.

Report Highlights

Symantec' s broad security portfolio covers all major areas of enterprise security with the exception of I&AM. Symantec' s move towards IT systems management, through the Veritas merger and the Altiris acquisition, places it in a unique position to take advantage of the coming convergence between security and systems management.

Although McAfee and Symantec have the broadest coverage of all vendors, they are notably absent from the I&AM area, where they chose not to offer any solutions at all. In I&AM, the dominant vendors are infrastructure vendors, namely Novell, CA, HP and IBM.

Datamonitor considers IBM to be the leading systems management vendor and one of the most influential infrastructure and application development vendors. This position allows IBM to heavily influence many aspects of the security market and the standards that govern this market.

Reasons to Purchase

  • Gain detailed knowledge of enterprise security vendors' strengths with regards to technology, user sentiment and market impact.
  • Enterprise security vendors can benchmark their own performance in various key criteria against their competitors.
  • Enterprise IT managers will gain valuable insight to improve their enterprise security purchasing decisions.
