Introduction
This tracker looks at the strategies being employed by the wealth managers to
attract and keep their relationship managers, with a particular focus on
poaching and initiatives to train/grow their own wealth managers.
Scope
- Follows the staffing-related activities of 57 leading international wealth
managers;
- Covers wealth managers with operations worldwide, with home markets in
Europe, USA and the Asia Pacific region.
Report Highlights
During the quarter, human resource developments were geared towards the
expansion of private banking services, with secondary activity in investment
and corporate financing functions. Private client service development was
concentrated in the US, while staffing developments in investment and
financing favoured Asia-Pacific markets.
Virtually all reported new appointments were the result of recruitment from
competitors, with the exception of Bank of America and Northern Trust, where a
few internal promotions were noted. Apart from this, two banks also pursued
graduate recruitment and expansion of their internship programs.
