Introduction
The Latvian Logistics Outlook is part of the Central and Eastern European
Logistics series, which assesses the logistics industry, foreign trade, major
industries affecting the logistics sector and the key logistics service
providers. The reports also forecast the outlook for freight transportation
and logistics across modes out to 2012 for each individual country.
Scope
Country facts, overview, policy and business. Economic overview and
performance, foreign trade partners and industries, economic issues and
prospects. Customer industries include: Food, Forestry, Engineering and
Metalwork, Textile and Clothing, Chemical and Pharmaceutical, Electronics and

Highlights
Transport, transit and storage contributes almost 10% of GDP in Latvia, a
major trade hub between the east and the west (over 90% of sea freight and 75%
of rail freight is transit). The government is modernizing the road
infrastructure to raise it to EU norms and also helping the rapid growth of
air freight with investments to attract new entrants.
