In January 2007, the majority of high-value IT services contracts was
predominantly driven by governments and telecoms services providers, these two
verticals accounted for nine out of the top 10 deals during the month. The key
trends observed for the month of January 2008 include: IT services contract
activity increased in January after the year-end slump; in January 2008,
infrastructure management and maintenance/support remained IT services
cornerstones; government IT spending remained constant across geographies.
Other trends include enterprises preferred short duration deals signed for an
average period of up to three to five years; IT service contracts signed in
the Asia-Pacific region showed significant volume growth; and a few
application development and management contracts are expected to expire by
August 2008.
