Report Highlights
The technology sector recorded 278 M&A deals in March 2008, a decrease of
21.3%, compared with the trailing six monthly average. In value terms, the M&A
transactions decreased by 29.3% over the trailing six month average, though
the US$1 billion-plus segment regained momentum.
Venture capitalists invested US$1.39 billion in 146 companies, an increase of
4.6% in value terms over the last six month average. With volatile equity
markets, private placements have emerged as the preferred route for raising
capital, especially for small and medium-sized companies.
