Abstract
Results of Energy Insights' market survey of over 1,000 residential customers
indicate that the residential market in North America now offers increased
opportunities for distributed energy (DE). Awareness of distributed energy is
on the rise, and over a quarter of those surveyed expressed a strong interest
in either backup, baseload, utility dispatched equipment, or some combination
thereof. Among the subjects addressed in the survey were the following:
- Existing backup generation-including frequency of use, loads served, equipment age, and fuel sources
- Interest in acquiring new backup equipment
- Interest in participating in a utility dispatch program with a discounted lease of equipment
- Interest in acquiring new baseload equipment-including payback requirements and preferred fuel source
