Abstract
This study provides an overview of the utility industry in Central Europe as
well as details of the structure of the utility markets in the Czech Republic,
Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. The study includes the results of an Insight
survey of utility companies in Central Europe, which explores the allocation of
utility companies' budgets as well as companies' current and planned future IT
initiatives and investments. The study also quantifies anticipated
utility-sector IT spending in Central Europe over the 2007-2011 forecast period.
"Vendors should note that the relatively large IT departments of utilities
combined with low labor costs means internal IT departments will almost always
be the first choice for routine and regular systems integration, software
deployment, and support functions. That being said, vendors will need to
differentiate between themselves through their range of services, speed and
efficiency of implementation, and operational and IT best practices." - Arun
